Who is this course for?

Students interested in doing Stage 1 Mathematics Methods or Stage 1 Mathematics Methods and Specialist Mathematics. This course allows time for students to explore content more deeply in Year 10 Mathematics and to develop problem solving skills and concepts needed in Stage 1.

What will I learn?

You will have the opportunity to apply your learning in new ways, and to practice the skills required for writing folio tasks.

The topics covered are:

• Pythagoras and Trigonometry (3D problems)
  
• Volume and Surface Area of Composite Figures
• Linear Equations and problem solving
• Quadratic Functions
• Geometry and Circle Theorems.

How will I be assessed?

The assessment types will model what happens in SACE. There will be a mixture of:

• Skills and Applications Tasks (also known as tests).
• At least one Mathematical Investigation (also known as a folio task).

You will be assessed against the Year 10 Mathematics Australian Curriculum standards.
